Please bring a headshot and resume and be prepared to sing 16-32 bars musical theater. Singing from the show is encouraged and we will have the score at auditions.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Pippin
A wisecracking hobbit whom everyone thinks is hilarious. He lives a charmed life, never getting blamed for any of the trouble he causes.

Merry
A hobbit whom no one seems to remember… but still gets blamed when things go wrong. He is Pippin’s best friend.

Strider
A mysterious ranger with a rocker vibe. He hides the fact that he is actually Aragorn, the rightful King of Gondor. He is in love with Arwen.

Gimli
The gruff, no-nonsense, axe-wielding dwarf lord with the tenacity of a bulldog. He is short, stocky and covered with hair. He distrusts the elves.

Legolas
An elf prince and warrior who always springs and leaps about. He distrusts the dwarfs.

Boromir
Son of the Steward of Gondor who gets little to no respect. His desire for the power of the Ring gets the best of him, but he redeems himself in the end.

Bilbo
A Catskills comic version of a hobbit. He is one hundred and eleven years old but only looks like he is in his fifties. After giving up the Ring, he appears his actual age.

Arwen
An elf princess who is in love with Strider. She is Elrond’s daughter.

Elrond
Powerful elf lord of Rivendell and father of Arwen.

Innkeeper
The boisterous and busty hostess of the Inn of the Prancing Pony. She has a loud, annoying voice and laugh. She talks to the hobbits like they are children.

Hobbit Rosie
A pretty hobbit who loves Sam.

Hobbit Feinstein
A slightly goofy boy hobbit.

Hobbit Lisa
A weird girl hobbit.
